CLEAN, BASIC HOTEL. LACK OF STAFF TRAINING VERY EVIDENT. THOUGH NOTHING TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR THE STAFF. VERY FRIENDLY AND RELAXING. FREE BUS TO OLU DENIZ NEVER MATERIALISED BUT A DAILY FREE BUS SERVICE TO SUGAR BEACH. IF YOU WANT TO BE PAMPERED ON HOLIDAY, BOOK AN EXPENSIVE HOTEL. AT THE BALKAYA WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET B&B FOR LESS THAN £2.00 PER NIGHT? TO SOLI, DAVID AND THE OTHER FIVE STAFF MEMBERS (YES THERE WERE REALLY ONLY SEVEN STAFF IN TOTAL) KEEP UP THE HARD WORK AND MAINTAIN THE VERY, VERY RELAXED ATMOSPHERE. ONE OTHER PIECE OF ADVICE, GET A NEW CHEF FOR THE EVENING MEALS.
Useful Tips:
TAKE A DOLMUS TO THE GHOST TOWN (KAYA) AND THEN TRAVEL ON TO THE QUIET FISHING TOWN OF GEMELER. TAKE A TRIP UP BABADAG MOUNTAIN FOR SUPERB POSTCARD VIEW. THE TRIP UP BABADAG TAKES ABOUT ONE HOUR BUT ON THE TRIP YOU WILL SEE WILD BOAR ROAMING THE MOUNTAINDIDE AND TORTOISES EVERYWHERE.

the phrase you get what you pay for is a good description on this hotel.......we stayed there in June this year and found it particularly hard work. when it came to food there was only one choice and if you were vegetarian or had any other dietary requests it was extremely limited. the hotel was also not child friendly, there wasn't much to do for kids apart from the pool which my son spent most of the time in. this was a blessing! staff turnover was high. in the first week of my stay I fell down some stairs and the staff were not very understanding and were more interested in us paying the bar bill than my injuries. I would also add that paying of bar bills was also a bone of contention which was a problem also experienced by other guests. They kept a tally but the staff did not give guests an invoice/receipt so it was difficult to keep tabs on what was being spent. all in all I would go back to Turkey but I would choose a different hotel in a different part of turkey!
Useful Tips:
go to the ghost village, very interesting!

there was no shuttle service to beach no turkish night no table tennis table, the bar and waiting staff were friendly but manager and owner disgusting i asked for broken leaking shower to be fixed on first day which was never done ; ended up with wet room every time i showered which led to me being charged fifty pounds as my bag got wet i placed on top of bed which marked the sheet.i argued with manager who said if i did not pay he would cause me much trouble ie call the police and stop me leaving country.they treat there staff disgustingly; also if you run up a tab with them you will recieve double the bill in the morning.i have frequently stayed in turkey and met some lovely turkish people, but the management owners of this hotel could benefit from a course at the charm school.

I came on holiday last year to the balkaya hotel. First thoughts of the hotel were really good. nice pool standard rooms, didnt expect luxuary i paid £53 for 3 weeks!! Bar staff really friendly, as was the receptionist man. Owner at the time was a jerk, he kept trying to charge us for bar bills that we had already paid for! Didnt eat in the restaraunt as the food was a bit shabby. Was clean and tidy and thats all you need for a holiday, a bed a bar and a pool! The town was only a 20 mins walk or we jumped on the bus at the top of the road... was actually easier to walk to the town than go up to the main road and get the bus. The only thing really i could omplain about was the chickens or hens crowing at like 5am!! I would definately recomend this hotel for people that like to lounge around the pool and go out for meals not eat in the hotel. Very cheap and cheerfull.... i have just booked 3 weeks again in september of this year (09) Rebecca, Manchester.
Useful Tips:
Make sure you take an extra towel, the ones in the rooms were a bit small. Would definately recomend to go and watch shows at the Copa Cabana in the town of Hisaronu... excellet family entertainment and friends :D if your not scared of hights definately try Macro Lighting (Its totally brill!!) or paragliding over the beach of Olu Dinez, it looks awsome!!
