This was my 2nd visit to Side, and loved it so much I am booked to go back again next year. There is so much to see in and around Side, with a fantastic stretch of beach with various styles of accommodation available. Some all inclusive some self catering. Even a couple of nightclubs. Shops are great, people are so friendly and helpful, guaranteed sunshine and excellent value for money
Useful Tips:
Visit the Ampetheatres in Side & Aspendos. Market on Saturday for great bargains. Always barter, never pay the asking price, and use Turkish Lira instead of Euros for a better deal. Manavgat is easy to get to on the Dolmus and has a lovely river with restaurants along leading up to the waterfalls

Comments:
As described on the side this is a fantastic holiday destination with plenty to do in the city or take any day excursion and explore the mountains near by however as it good ass it sounds the shopkeepers are just too friendly never leaving you alone either you in the city or beach. They hug you, they grab you they touch and what is most annoying if you are with a woman they are all over her like some nasty rush. I might sound like some annoying old bloke but trust me at the beginning its great however few days in to your holiday you will know what I am talking about. On the other hand if you are into all this then you will love every single minute. It is great fun as soon as you forget all those annoyances and don't let things get on to you. Have a nice break!!!
Useful Tips:
Fake goods are just on every single corner if you don't know what you are looking for then is better to avoid them. There are highly cost valuables so if you are ready to spend make sure you have done your homework and exactly know what you want to get. DONT BE SCARED TO BARTER as this is very normal in Turkey

Lovely resort with amazing roman ruins, great restaurants, plenty of shops and a fantastic beach. The resort however is aimed more at german and russian tourists than the british and they all prefer the euro as a common form of currency rather than the turkish lira!!! I'm going back there next Thursday so it can't be that bad.
Useful Tips:
Take euro's rather than sterling or lira

Comments:
Plenty of family activities beach side tho' not inexpensive. Plenty of archaeology around and tours. Taxi costs equate to English prices. Less hassle in the markets than Egypt or Tunisia but dont go shopping in the heat of the day, go am or late afternoon. Speaking basic Turkish goes down well although every one speaks 2/3 languages. Take English Currency or Euros as most places prefer cash and its just not necessary to carry a lot of lire. Cash points in town. Would go again.
Useful Tips:
take your best bargaining face with you and dont be afraid to say no. Watch for turkish delight sellers trying to fill you a box full of assorted bricks of delight . Small box packed this way will cost you approx 24-50 quid. Know what you want and what you want to pay. Walk away if you are just looking. Dont be suckered in.

Side was a great destination. The weather was beautiful, lovely beach and a great atmosphere. The harbour was lovely, great meals, plenty of bars and an open air club in the middle of the old ruins. I would definitely go back.
Useful Tips:
Definitely a trip to the harbour, and then a boat tour, and don't forget to check out the open air club. Haggle for your turkish delight, don't pay the first price.

Comments:
The best holiday I have enjoyed by far. The wheather was glorious for 10 days spent in Side, foods was light and tasty, but most of all the local people were warm friendly and just a complete delight to be around. I hoilday regularly each year in different parts of Turkey as I'm also married to a Turk from the Black sea region, but my favourite is the Antalya region. I have recommended the southern region of Turkey to family, friends and work colleagues and time again they also agree its the best holiday they had ever experienced.
Useful Tips:
Make sure they drink bottled water rather than local tap water, as you can get a dodgy tummy.

This is a huge area with Side town in the middle of it, full of shops, restaurants, ancient monuments, boat trips, beaches
Useful Tips:
Unlike other Turkish towns Side has a lot of Eastern European visitors! the shop keepers are a lot more pushy than say Bodrum and you can get fed up with them, best thing to do is just to be really nice but just say NO and keep walking otherwise the next thing you know they are following you around the shop and you've parted with money you didn't want to part with If you are buying jewellery make sure you have a really good look round first get some prices and if you are happy then fine but you will find that gold jewellery can be more expensive than the UK. Silver jewellery is great and a lot cheaper than at home. Don't buy perfume anywhere but the duty free as normally its not real or watered down TAXI's - don't get into a taxi unless you have asked the price first - give the taxi driver the money before you get in this way they can't rip you off If you are a single female be careful, Turkish men are very nice, extremely good looking and charming BUT RARELY FAITHFUL !

What a great holiday in Side! So much history situated alongside quaint bars and restaurants. There were some areas which were more commercialised, but the choice was yours as to whether you ventured there or not. Ideal really, because you have a taste of everything!!
Useful Tips:
Walk down to the harbour where there are lovely traditional bars and restaurants. Visit the amphitheatre and roman ruins all around that area.
