It was perfect weather and temperature in Alanya for April. Didn't like how much we were hassled as our hotel was right in town. We didn't realise just how far our money didn't go, a bottle of Smirnoff costs twice as much out there and there were no places even roughly the same price as the UK to drink.
Useful Tips:
Get used to blanking shop people!

Comments:
I have just returned from my most relaxing holiday in Matagorda, Lanzarote. As I have a busy job and caring responsibilities, I was looking forward to a relaxing holiday with my husband and we both were certainly not disappointed. Matagorda is a clean, quiet, friendly resort with a lovely beach and excellent promenade where you can have a leisurely stroll at any time of the day or night. There are also adequate eating facilities where I found the food to be delightful and the staff in the restaurants very friendly.
Useful Tips:
Easy and affordable transport in and around the resort. Can get cool in the evenings, outdoor clothing (jacket) required.

If you yearn for hospitality second to none, barbecued sea bass and stunning sea and landscape, you could visit any Southern Turkish town. Alanya, though, has been a local stronghold for many Mediterranean-based empires, including the Ptolemaic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman and as a result invites further exploration. This region was once ancient Pamphylia, a loose federation of Hellenistic cities established by incomers from northern Anatolia. According to ancient Greek sources, Pamphylia was settled by a "mixed multitude" of peoples following the fall of Troy around 1205 BC. It played a relatively minor role in the history of Anatolia, never even attaining local military significance, and stronger neighbours, amongst them the Lydians and Persians, fought over the Pamphylian cities for centuries. Mark Antony treated it as his personal domain until defeated by Octavius Caesar at the battle of Actium in 31 BC when Pamphylia was formally absorbed into the Roman Empire. Explore and eat!
Useful Tips:
Visit Manavgat district along the coast (the ancient cities of Side and Selge) and travel inland to Gundogmun, which is rugged and mountainous and possibly more stunning in poorer weather conditions. Must-sees also are Hadim and Taskent in the Province of Konya and Sareveliler in the Province of Karaman.

Comments:
if you love spectacular views of the mountains and a beatiful blue and green sea then this is the place to be. its lively at night and lots to see and do during the day. theirs a choice of a few big markets where you can have fun haggling and lots of bazzars wnere you will find lots of interesting souvenires to take home with you. the bars and restaurants are all very pleasant and you will always find that the staff are very polite and helpful.food can sometimes be a little pricey i thought but youre guaranteed something different than traditional english dishes.the views of the castle all lit up at night are breathtaking and if you go to the top of the castle during the day you can see all over alanya. you can get the dolmus to the top of the castle for only one lira. i call that value and its a must do on the list.the harbor is also a place you mustnt miss as it is so pretty. their are plenty of seats all around so you can watch the boats coming in and out. overall rating, BRILLIANT
Useful Tips:
on the downside beware of pickpockets and conmen. my husband caught a theif trying to steal money from his pocket on a dolmus but stopped him in his tracks.the local shop and restaurant owners can also be very pushy by insisting you buy from their shops or eat at their establishments, dont let this put you off as it seems to be their tradition. on the good side their is eberything to look out for like good markets, good food, lovely scenary and lots of fun.
