Topping the charts as one of the most doted upon holiday destinations for Brits abroad, Spain Holidays are notorious for providing a home-from-home experience for those in search of Sangria, Sky Sports and scampi suppers, all set against the backdrop of tropical temperatures and blue skies.

Nicknamed the ‘sunshine coast’, Torremolinos has over 7km of soft golden sand, while Costa Blanca is famed for its pale white promenade, the Costa Brava boasts cream-coloured shores and the Costa de la Luz presents ideal snorkelling territory.
Or, if you prefer snow to sand, book a trip to Andalucia instead. With snow-capped peaks and a smattering of sunshine, the Sierra Nevada mountains are home to Europe’s southernmost ski resort – ideal for topping up that tan while you take in a spot of exercise.
Elsewhere, Barcelona and Madrid make the must-have aperitifs for a trip to central Spain, as well as a superb city break too. Paving the way for archaeological sites, impressive castles and medieval towns across the rest of the country, the two cities have the perfect balance of flamboyant history combined with an altogether cosmopolitan culture.

Weather

Holidays to Spain serve up an all year round holiday season, so if you’ve ever been to the Balearics or fallen in love with the Canary Islands, Spain will fill in any gaps for when you want to try somewhere different. A vast country, the climate varies from coast to coast, so a trip to the Costas won’t hold the same forecast as a city break to Madrid. Even the weather conditions from east to west differ as they’re affected by the Mediterranean and Atlantic respectively. As a general guide, central Spain gets especially hot in summer so it’s worth taking into account that you won’t have the opportunity to take a dip in the sea to cool down if you do visit in peak season; the coastal regions remain of a typical Mediterranean climate with warm springs, hot summers and mild winters – the perfect recipe for a quick-fix getaway; while the Sierra Nevada mountain range and Pyrenean region remain the coldest parts of Spain, with snow and minus temperatures expected in winter.

Attractions and nightlife

A Spain holiday really does have it all. A variety show of activities and respite, it’s not difficult to see why this European gem is where the original package holidays first stemmed from. Famous in the 50s for being the country where the British began to holiday, Benidorm soon made a name for itself as the party capital of the country, right up until the late 80s, when the Spanish islands of Ibiza, Majorca and Lanzarote started gaining in popularity amongst those looking for a faultless beachside break.
Continuing to attract all age groups from nine to ninety, today thrill-seekers will be kept quiet thanks to the copious amounts of water sports and skiing pastimes on offer, beach buffs can loll in the sun all day at one of the many beaches dotted around the coastline, whilst party animals have the pick of the bunch thanks to the bigger, built-up resorts and their selection of pubs and clubs blasting out mixes from midnight until morning.
