Comments:
We went as an extended family group to Nerja and all loved it. Grand parents spent time relaxing by the pool and beach and enjoyed promenading on the Balcon. The young adults in the group found plenty of entertainment in the many bars and clubs and we always felt they were safe and happy. This resort is a far cry from the 'drunken Brits abroad' type that is often reported in the media. The forty-somethings were entertained exploring the rambling shopping streets and cafes and visiting the near by caves and local beaches. We found a wide variety of places to eat and drink without having to venture far. Nerja was charming and not over developed or over run by holiday makers. It is worth noting that younger children may find the beaches disappointing. The ones we visited consisted of small sharp pebbles that were sore to walk on and at times the sea was rough enough to take the legs from an adult.
Useful Tips:
Transfers from the airport were expensive and took about an hour. In hind-sight it would have been as cheap to hire a car for a week.

The area of Nerja especially the older part is lovely. Nice beaches and fantastic Tapas bars. Look for the Tapas guide on the internet it is a valuable guide to take with you as it maps out all of the tapas bars which give you free tapas with each drink that you order, free if you sit at the bar. Some of these bars specialise in fresh seafood and cook them for you to order, so you can have a small beer and freshly cooked clams etc with a wedge of lemon for approx 1 euro 30 or 1 euro 50. lets just say you did not have to buy a meal in the evening as you filled up on these free tapas fantastic!
Useful Tips:
Go up to Frigliana one of the white villages up in the hills. You can get the bus up to it. Also the weekly market is a must, lots of lovely sun dresses to buy and pottery.

Truly fabulous resort, so many excellent restaurants, line along charming pavements. Tourists but in a good way, not for the lager louts but for the more sophisticated crown. Stayed at the Balcon de Europa hotel which was lovely but they do charge for the sunbeds, bit greedy I think.
Useful Tips:
Long way from the airport but there is a realiable bus service.

Comments:
Dramatic scenery with hills to climb. Inexpensive Burrama beachside restaurants and bars. Good coffee with a free mini icecream cone on the side. Easy and cheap transfer bus links from Malaga Airport to City bus station and Nerja. Tennis club and Public swimming pool are attractive. Apartment at Marina Turquesa was high standard but recommend without breakfast.
Useful Tips:
Bus trip to Almeria. If fit and have a head for hights try the delightful cliffside walk from beach to beach but there are DANGER warnings and walled off sections to climb around.

Comments:
The town of Nerja is a great get away destination for couples who want a relaxing holiday. It is so peaceful and yet has pleanty to see and do. Clean beaches with a great choice of eating facilities of all types (snacks and restaurants).
Useful Tips:
The Balcon is the towns main square, bustling in the day with its market stalls and beautifully decorated buildings. Peacful at night for that romantic meal or strole on the beach. There are a number of small beaches, all with their own unique identities. The town itself offers a large variety of shopping experiences and the bars and restaurants are very good. The 3 Cliffs Bar, a welsh rugby themed bar, had a home from home atmosphere and the chineese restaurant accross the road to it had the most wonderful, home made cooked food and friendly staff! The public transport and taxi service is also quite good. Try Nerja and see for yourself. Happy hiolidays!!!

Went for 10 Nights to Nerja,in September 2008. The weather was lovely and the town of Nerja itself very clean, people nice and friendly, and the beaches were great, also very clean. The Balcon De Europe was a good central view point from all angles. Plenty of shops, restaraunts and a horse and carriage trip around the town should you require. The town square was a great place to meet up or just sit ad while away the hours people watching. Would recommmed it and would definately go again.
Useful Tips:
Horse and Carriage trip, Noddy Train around the town.

Comments:
Nerja is a quiet little resort with sufficient bars and entertainment for a week's holiday, probably no more. The view from the Balcon d'Europe is excellent. Only downside was in a country famed for tapas, the only restaurant with a tapas menu only let you eat inside. The traditional continental cafes, restaurants etc which line the streets only served full dishes from a menu which was similar whichever you went in. We stayed at La Perla Marina which was around 5-10 min walk to the town centre so nice and peaceful on the beachfront. Lots of bars/cafes etc on the way to town. Although I would not go back as I'm sure there are many more destinations that are better that I would prefer to visit, I would recommend it to couples/families looking for a quiet Spain holiday. Cheap flights and plenty of choice of hotels without any of the noise of other resorts in Costa del Sol.
Useful Tips:
The Balcon d'Europe is great viewing of the Med Sea and coastline. Beautiful church in the middle of town was hosting a wedding whilst we were there and that was a great insight of the local culture. Beaches are not particularly great for sunbathing as pebbles rather than sand so harsh on the feet.
