Featured Costa Brava Hotels:

Weather

You don’t get cold on Tossa de Mar holidays. The Mediterranean climate means long hot summers, with average temperatures reaching 30° Celsius, frequently giving 12 hours of sunshine a day. The hottest months of July and August are often tempered by coastal winds. The weather is perfect for lounging by the beach or practicing your swing on the fairways.

Attractions

Don’t miss the Villa Vella (Old Town), with its ancient defence walls and towers. The walled enclosure is the only surviving example of a fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast. Less than a kilometre away is the Sa Riera Park, a man-made nature reserve with a Mediterranean forest, river and lake. Catch the museum for its archaeology and modern art, or take a trip in a glass-bottomed boat.

Slightly further afield, families on holidays to Tossa de Mar will enjoy the thrills of Europe’s biggest water park, or Marineland, a short drive south down the coast.

Nightlife

There’s plenty to keep all but the most hardened raver occupied here during those long summer nights on your Tossa de Mar holiday. And even 24 hour party people can head up the road to Lloret.

Tossa’s seafront is packed with great restaurants, where you can enjoy tapas or seafood as the sun sinks into the sparkling Med. Watch some traditional Spanish dancing, or enjoy an exotic concoction in one of Tossa’s cocktail bars.

For clubbers, the Catxa Club is open-air with a swimming pool, the Paradis Club on the seafront blares out chart music, and Sivas plays everything from grunge to salsa, from soul to rock and blues.

Landscape

Up by the castle, it’s strictly no high-rise buildings, so you can enjoy unspoilt views over Tossa’s mountainous hinterland with its lush green valleys, and natural springs. With so much beautiful coastline, beaches are likely to be a highlight of your Tossa de Mar holidays.

Platja Gran is the main beach in the heart of Tossa. Set in an attractive horseshoe bay, it’s large and sandy with plenty of facilities, and a consistent winner of the European Blue Flag. The nearby Mar Menuda beach is equally well-served, and if you fancy a change from both, Tossa has no fewer than 16 other beaches and small coves.

Culture

There’s a year-round calendar of cultural events, especially local fiestas, offering the perfect way to sample the Spanish way of life. Try the Carnival in February, Fishermen’s Day in early June, or Sardana dancing in late June. For some high culture, catch the Fair of Drawing and Painting or Musical Festival in August. There are also weekly markets to stroll around.
