Agadir
Agadir, Morocco

Description
  • Experience a mix of old and new, local and Western, this popular fishing port has the appearance of a modern European holiday resort with the added magic of a distinct Moroccan flavour. Framed by the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, Agadir is Morocco's prime holiday resort, and boasts a swathe of golden sandy beach. You'll discover a range of watersports, or you can saddle up and experience a bumpy camel ride along the shoreline. Agadir offers a fine array of restaurants and bars/cafes fusing Berber, Arabic and Spanish cuisine. Visit one of the souks - witness an explosion of colour, aroma and noise, find souvenirs from handwoven carpets and spices to ornate jewels and brass - make sure before you buy anything, you remember to haggle, to get yourself a bargain! One of the few older buildings is the Kasbah, about 8kms from the centre, here you can enjoy views over the coast. Nightlife tends to be hotel based with discos and karaoke. Agadir is an excellent base to venture further afield to Marrakech, as well as the old walled city of Taroudannt, or Paradise Valley.
