Mellieha Bay, located on the north west of the island, is a peaceful and relaxing resort and is also one of Malta's largest sandy beaches which make it a haven for watersports enthusiasts and beach worshippers alike. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside but is also ideally situated close to St Pauls Bay and its livelier neighbours, Bugibba and Qawra.

Weather
If you're a sun worshipper or watersports lover, holidays in Mellieha Bay are wonderful the whole year round. Summers are hot and sunny with temperatures often well above 30° Celsius and, even in winter, it's still pleasant enough to take a stroll along the sands. Attractions
Watersports are the main focal point of activity at Mellieha Bay with water skiing and parasailing well featured. There are also pedalos and banana boats on offer for those who like those kinds of water frolics. You can also catch the ferry over to the neighbouring island of Gozo from Mellieha which is well worth a day trip.
Families are well catered for in the nearby resort of Bugibba and younger children will particularly enjoy Popeye Village. If you're thinking about a holiday to Mellieha in September, a two week annual festival takes place there from the 8th where the celebrations include numerous concerts and traditional folk singing, a religious parade and a spectacular fireworks display.

The village of Mellieha itself is situated only 1km from the beach. With its own hotels, some friendly restaurants and attractive shops, it's a relaxing way to spend an evening but if you're looking for a livelier time, it's only a short trip to Bugibba and Qawra both of which cater for most kinds of entertainment.
