Weather

Positano is blessed with an idyllic Mediterranean climate, with the winters mild and the summers pleasantly hot, the sea breeze preventing too-hot-to-bear conditions. This allows the holiday months to stretch between May all the way to early October, although July and August are still the warmest and hence the most sought after for holiday makers. History

Positano began its life as a sleepy fishing village and it wasn't until the advent of trading and the more readily available systems of transportation that the town flourished, trading across the Mediterranean in a wide range of goods, especially with the East. However, as the power of neighbouring towns and cities grew, the need to trade from Positano faded, and the town slipped into a mini depression. Many of the inhabitants emigrated, often across the Atlantic to America.

However, Positano's popularity and potential as a tourist destination was eventually realised, and its tourist industry saw a massive growth in the 1950s.
