I have been a regular visitor to Kardamena and this is my preferred hotel. I choose to return because of the overall quality of service and facilities. The rooms are somewhat basic for a hotel of this rating, but are clean and provide everything you need. The restaurant is a buffet style self-service facility and offers a wide selection of food. The bar areas are nice, but inevitably, drinks are pricey. However, it's much the same in the centre of the resort. The pool area is excellent, but I should add the gym facilities are poor. The only issue for some is the distance from the centre of the resort. It takes 25-30 minutes to walk into Kardamena and the bus service is irregular. However, the bonus is a good sleep! Don't be put off by the imposing hillside chalets, as most command views of the sea and can be reached by the 24 hour hotel shuttle. Last year, I tried an alternative all inclusive hotel to reduce cost. In truth, any saving was spent on taxis to get into the village
Useful Tips:
The choice of bars and restuarants is staggering, so every person you talk to has a favourite. I recommend the Stone Roses Bar in the Main Square which offers a rock alternative to dance music which dominates the resort. It has a great atmosphere generated by enthusiastic and friendly staff. If you love a British bar with a 'proper' breakfast, it's worth the journey to the opposite end of the village from this hotel, to see Carol and Paul at the Banana Beach Bar. Lovely people.
One VERY important safety issue. The road to the Aegean Village is in total darkness when leaving the main village, so I would recommend taking a cab back to the hotel late at night, rather than walking. My partner and I were once victims of an attempted robbery when walking back at 2am. It was an isolated incident and the hotel staff were brilliant, but would strongly recommend that you avoid putting yourself at risk.
