- Great resort, not too loud and not too quiet. People very friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic, make sure you seek out Scorpios. We ate there nearly every night. We have been to Gouves five times now, and will be returning.
- Useful Tips:
- Scorpios Restaurant, great little bars, Dont swim out too far in the sea as there are very strong undercurrents.

- Gouves is. a pleasant resort with a good variety of snack bar and Restaurants along the beach front.The Cretan people are very warm and friendly and we noticed how welcoming they were to families with little children too. We even managed to find an excellent Indian Restaurant called the Chilli Lounge where the owner called and spoke personally to all the diners. We had a great night at the Island Restaurants Greek Night also.
- Useful Tips:
- Make sure that your flight is to Heraklion Airport and not to Chania as ours was! I had presumed that after choosing the flight and then the Hotel it would be the nearest and only realised when looking at a map a couple of days before we left that we would have approximately 90 miles to drive to Gouves!Also, watch out for the nasty little mosquitoes !Even though we bought a plug in repellant and candles they still made a feast of me! I believe they hate the smell of lavender so take some lavender oil along.The good thing about the long drive to and from the airport in our hired car was that the main Northern Road is straightforward and runs mostly along the beautiful coastline and has a lovely view of mountains on the other side as well as colourful shrubs and orange sellers along the route.There are plenty of clearly marked lay byes too,some near lovely sandy beaches,so its worth a ride along the coast to the west even if it isnt a necessity as it was in our case.

- Only a small resort but enough bars and restaurants to cater for everyone.Locals very friendly and helpful.
- Useful Tips:
- First time i have ever been bitten so badly by mosquitos.

- We have been to Gouves in Crete 3 times and each time have had a very enjoyable holiday. Gouves is not a large resort, but has everything you need to relax and get away from it all. As always, the greek people are friendly and welcoming, beach is lovely, and town just big enough to stroll around comfortably.

- Beachside tavernas etc, many with tables and chairs on beach...lovely at night...
