Great resort, not too loud and not too quiet. People very friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic, make sure you seek out Scorpios. We ate there nearly every night. We have been to Gouves five times now, and will be returning.
Useful Tips:
Scorpios Restaurant, great little bars, Dont swim out too far in the sea as there are very strong undercurrents.

This was the latest visit. We stayed Vassia beach,Sissi crete. A very beautiful traditional Greek fishing village with the choice of local life restaurants or a very relaxing and smart hotel in the shape of Vassi beach. We are a typical hard working family of a aduuls and 2 boys now 13 and 10 whose reward for hard work throughour the year is a beach holiday - we adore the warm climes of the Eastern med. The hotel represented excellent value for money and diplayed a high standard of care for all guests - young and old. The hotel seemed comfortable with it's target market and insisted on informal yet smart dress code for evening meals. Food was well prepared with plenty of choice and variety for all taste buds. All staff were friendly and pleasant. The rooms were of a very high standard although just a little more storage space would have come in handy for us. They were well maintained and cleaned daily. The maids deserve special thanks for their part.
Useful Tips:
The beautiful harbour and coast line. The wonderful hills and villages in the hills. I woule recommend car hire even if only for a day or two to explore this part of the island and across to Elounda - the scenic route over the mountains took us about 90 minutes and the new road going through the hills meant the return trip could be done in half this time easily. The local make tourists feel welcome and appreciate the business without making them feel patronised.

This was our 4th trip to Crete and we will be back again. We love the archeology and the history. So easy to take local service buses to get around and visit places. The local people are friendly and helpful.
Useful Tips:
Make use of local bus services that are very efficient and economical. Book your trips in the towns and not with the tour operators to ensure best value for money.

If you loved Spain 30 years ago, the unspoilt coastline, the traditional food in abundance and more importantly the culture and language relatively untouched then you'll love Almyrida in Crete. It is a small, sleepy fishing village on the North West Coast of Crete and it is amazing. Families and couples alike will appreciate the shallow bay and soft, sandy beach. If you fancy a week of hardcore clubbing then this aint for you. It's sexy, it's sunny, it's unspoilt and it's quaint. The only negative is the cost of everything. Because it's the only tourist trap for miles the shops hike up their prices, however the hotels more than cater for everything, so there's no need to shop. The hotels are classy and cater for every individual need and they are reasonably priced also. I would go back tomorrow.
Useful Tips:
High prices in shops. Lovely local food particularly in Pierers cafe

For the price that we paid to go, it was a nice destination. The people were pretty friendly, there was enought to do for the week that we was there, the beach was clean with a good atmosphere. The food wasn't the best I have had when away but it was eatable. I would not advise for any one to visit Sticky Fingers as the food is absolutely horrid! I would definately advise people between 16(if your allowed to holiday alone) and 26 (if you are not too grown up for your age) to visit, especially if you love the raving scene but don't like all the drama and fighting that happens in places like aya napa!
Useful Tips:
The Beaches, the Bars the Water Park. Be careful of the peds, don't go any where except motor fun as tthe rest are complete cons and it could end up costing you thousands!
