Horror of Wasps

Comments:
The Hotel itself is good, but they have a major problem with wasps. You pay for all inclusive and you are unable to eat or drink by the pool, so value for money is very bad, and it states this is somewhere to wind down but the wasps are like a horror movie. You can only eat and drink by the pool during the day nothing was available out of main meal times other than by the pool and unless you want to do this wading through a mouth full of wasps it is impossible. Guests were stung on a daily basis. They did move lunch to the main dining room due to this but that is all. They appear to be doing nothing to resolve the problem and did not appear to care very much either it was just a big joke to them. We had to pay for sun beds etc by the beach to be able to sit down in some kind of peace, but even the wasps are there but slightly fewer. You cannot move a limb without fear of putting it on a wasp. This is the most stressful holiday I have ever encountered and won't be going back again.
Useful Tips:
Unless you like wasps don't go, not suitable for children or people that have reactions unless they want to spend their time in the local hospital. Continuous noise of music by the pool and staff wanting you to get up and get involved. Not for anyone wanting to relax although the grounds are quiet but no where to sit down.

Comments:
I had read a few bad reviews about this holte just before we went there so was very worried about what we were going to be letting ourselves in for. On arrival at the hotel, we were checked in quickly and efficiently by reception and a porter guy brought our bags to our room. Our room was a ground floor apartment (blofield) was the name of our apartment block. It was very clean and tidy and spacious enough for myself, my partner and out three year old daughter, and was also modern and fresh looking too. The swimming pools are clean and beautiful, the beach is small but pretty. The main budffet resturant was quite big and once again spotlessly clean. Food was quite good, always fresh and hot, lovely salads and deserts and a kids corner. The kids corner could do with a bit more variation as I think four nights out of the seven we were there, it was fish fingers for the kids, other than that, pasta and alwas fome fresh ved for the kids.
Useful Tips:
Bad points, some of the hotel staff, i.e. some of the reception staff and some of the pool bar staff are very rude, but the rest of the staff seemed fine. The wasps were a bit of a pain, but after the first day, you tend to get used to them and as long as you dont flap too much, they dont seem to sting either. Lots of people were getting badly bit by mosquitos. We got three bites between us during the whole stay so not to bad at all. We used jungle formula mosquito spray (I used tescos own for my three ear old daughter and she didn't get bit once) and we had a mosquito repelent plug in in our room. entertainment staff tried their very very best, daytime activities etc were better that evening. the beach to the left of the hotel was far nicer than the other one on the right. There is a bar just by the right hand beach (the first of the two bars that you come to) good for watching sport, fooball etc.) The sea is crystal clear very good for snorkling.

Comments:
The hotel is situated in St Spiridon, on the coast of North East Corfu. The hotel and the area of St Spiridon is quite secluded, not really much within walking distance. The town of Kassiopi is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride away where you can find a range of bars, restaurants and shops. The first impressions of the hotel were very good, it is very well laid out, with each block of rooms having it's own name themed around the james bond films. The rooms were very comfortable with en suite facilities. No cooking facilites as it is an all inclusive hotel. The food was very acceptable, but you have to bear in mind wherever you go that the 4 star standards are not the same as our 4 star standards of uk hotels so don't expect the food to be so. Having said this, there was a wide selection at each mealtime, although the food did then seem to repeat itself. But there is a wide enough selection.Very nice beach right on your doorstep!Shuttle buses into town.
Useful Tips:
There is a bar called molos as you exit the back of the hotel and turn right, here i found internet access which was not available in the hotel. Also very friendly service and wide selection of cocktails, i spent a lot of time in there. If you venture into Kassiopi and fancy trying your hand at scuba diving, i would highly reccomend Corfu Divers (situated on the main street in Kassiopi) very friendly, helpful staff. You will also find a very nice beach to the left as you exit the back of the hotel and an excursions shop who will arrange any of the excursions offered by the tour operators but at a much better price! I very much enjoyed my holiday here. I have already returned once and will most likely do so again, i woudl highly reccomend it. The setting is very peaceful and this unspoilt corner of corfu is beautiful, but still never far away from more built up areas which you can do on day trips.
