The elegance of the property, common to all restored mansions in the Old
Town now operating as hotels, carries over to the restaurant, equipped
with a well-stocked bar. A less formal and livelier option is the hotel
piano bar, where Cuban music and jazz are performed live every night.
The Florida opened in 1885 and swiftly became renowned as one of the
city?s better hotels. Its ground floor courtyard has a sliding glass
roof, which is a great boon during the rainy season, and the Florida is
one of the few places in the city where you can relax, eat and drink
without the interminable strains of ?Guantanamera? whining in the
background like a musical mosquito. The building is elegant, light and
airy and the rooms are very comfortable.
