Bermuda Holidays

Thanks to its romantic pale pink sands, ridiculously pretty pastel houses that belong in a watercolour painting and spots such as Lover's Lane, Bermuda has long been known as a classic honeymoon destination. Be that as it may, Bermuda (which is made up of 200 islands in the Atlantic Ocean although only seven serve Bermuda's thriving tourist trade), is too good to leave just to the newlyweds.

Sun seekers can toast themselves on those famous beaches where the water is a sparkling royal blue, the sand flour fine and improbably good looking people (well Catherine Zeta Jones does have a house here) lounge by the sea. Meanwhile golfers will be in eighteen hole heaven; Bermuda has more golf courses per square mile than any country in the world - who knew? Fabulous fairways include the Robert Trent Jones designed Port Royal. Still need more thrills? For underwater explorers, there are around 350 shipwrecks off the sun splashed shores - diving is big business in Bermuda.

Back on dry land, head to Hamilton. The Bermudan capital's association with offshore banking and the rich and famous means that Hamilton is often thought of as a glitzy over the top place but it isn't like that at all; you come to the capital to ride in a horse drawn carriage or sample Wahoo game fish and sweet potato pudding. Or as Mark Twain once famously said, Bermuda is "the perfect country for a jaded man to loaf in."
