Those looking for the true Tenerifian nocturnal frivolity should head downcoast to the cities of Playa De Las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Landscape

There's one of the island's longest blue flag beaches a short amble away at Playa De La Arena, it's black volcanic sands belying the fact that it's the cleanest beach on the isle. Great views can be drank in from the Los Gigantes mountains overhead, occluding the otherwise azure-blue horizon, and a night-time stroll by the sea will take you to the beautiful little harbour at the beach.

Culture

Puerto Santiago holidays should include a sample of local life, and this can be gleaned at the local markets and annual festivals: there is a spring carnival in nearby Los Gigantes with samba, dancing and paella aplenty; while bartering for local baubles and handicrafts can be indulged in at Alcala every Monday.
