- We had a fabulous time in Lanzarote for christmas and New Year. Puerto Del Carmen was brilliant. The beach is beautiful sand and clear water. The resort was full of fantastic restaurants and lots of friendly bars, decorated. New Year was fantastic, with every bar celebrating it english style. There were street entertainers and a band playing in the bandstand and at midnight they had the best firework display on the beach and out at sea. There were 10 of us, 2 families ranging from 8 - 45. WE even had good weather and spent christmas day in the swimming pool and scuba diving.
- Useful Tips:
- You must go to Mulligans restaurant it was fantastic food with good entertainment.

- February marked our second time to Puerto Del Carmen within two months, and we were delighted that it coincided, in February, with the best carnival procession I've ever seen. Floats and costumes advertising different trades and hobby groups took more than an hour to pass, in different groups all accompanied by musical bands. My favourite was 'Los Inebriatos'. Local families wore costumes as spectators, too, waving down from balconies or lining the route dressed as pirates, devils, and even toga'd Roman senators!

- AS AN ESCAPE FROM THE DRAB UK WINTER LANZAROTE HIT THE SPOT.PUERTO DEL CARMEN IS VERY MUCH A TOURISTY RESORT BUT HAS ENOUGH ABOUT IT TO MAKE FOR A PLEASANT STAY.THE HARBOUR AND SURROUNDS ARE PARTICULARLY NICE WITH BY FAR THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN TOWN,THE BEACH ROAD ONES NOT SO GOOD.THE BEACH ROAD DID MAKE FOR A NICE STROLL WITH THE SEA VIEWS OF NEIGHBOURING FUERTEVENTURA,AND THE GOLDEN SANDY BEACH.NOT BRAVE ENOUGH TO TEST THE FEBRUARY ATLANTIC THOUGH.THE WEATHER WAS EVEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED(20+ BUT FELT WARMER).SHOPS WISE THE TOWN ISNT BLESSED WITH MUCH MORE THAN BEACHWARES/CHEAP CLOTHES .YOUD PROBABLY BE OK FOR A DIGITAL CAMERA AS WELL.THERE ARE 1/2 MORE INTERESTING SHOPS IF YOU LOOK HARD ENOUGH(OR WANT TO).OVERALL PDC IS BRIGHT,CLEAN,NO HIGHRISE,NICE ATMOSPHERE(SUMMER CROWDS PERMITTING),AND GREAT CLIMATE.THERES NOT TOO MANY PLACES IN EUROPE WHERE YOU CAN RETURN FROM A 7 DAY BREAK IN FEBRUARY WITH A TAN.WILL CERTAINLY RETURN.

- BEST RESTAURANTS ARE AROUND THE HARBOUR AREA (BEST VIEWS AS WELL).WE FOUND THE BEACH ROAD EATERIES GENERALLY OVERPRICED (EXCEPT BREAKFASTS) AND NOT VERY GOOD QUALITY.THERE IS AN EXCELLENT LOCAL MAGAZINE (LANZAROTE GAZETTE I THINK) WHICH IS FREE FROM SOME LOCAL SHOPS.HAS LOTS OF INFORMATION ON LOCAL AREA,WHATS ON ETC.A TRIP TO THE TIMFANWA NATIONAL PARK IS THOUROUGHLY RECOMMENDED ESPECIALLY THE VOLCANIC LANDSCAPE.THE LOCALLY PRODUCED WINE IS ALSO WELL WORTH SEEKING OUT.TRY THE WRINKLY SALTED POTATOES WITH THE RED AND GREEN SAUCES,A LOCAL DISH.

- We went early May there was 6 of us 4 adults and 2 children the weather was really nice. Lots of things to do and see. Our apartment we clean and spacious opened the front door and the pool was right there.We were behind Mcginy's bar although there was no noise. We would go again.

- The old town by the harbour was nice with a good choice of restaurants. The main seafront was not quite so good, mainly due to all the roadworks at the time of our visit.
- Useful Tips:
- Don't let your credit card out of your sight. Some shops/restaurants want to take it away to swipe it. We found that a clone of mine was being used in California 3 months later.
