Playa del Ingles Holidays

Europe's largest holiday resort is Benidorm, near Alicante on what is arguably the nicest coast in mainland Spain, the fabulous Costa Blanca. However, you'd never know that Playa Del Ingles is number two for several reasons, mostly because Playa Del Ingles is technically not in Europe at all as the Canarian archipelago is part of the African continent. This is one absolutely enormous beach! You literally can stand in the middle of it and not see either end. From the beginning of the beach to the actual water seems like it's miles to walk. You might think that you're lost in the Sahara rather than taking the kids for a splash.

The beaches in Playa del Ingles are a real cosmopolitan mix of German, French, Dutch, and Scandinavian tourists who arrive in droves, and there are many good reasons for it. The beach at Playa del Ingles is not just for the English as the name would have it, but it is a world famous spectacle. The resort area itself has a vast range of shops selling everything from perfume to fine jewellery and electronics. Unlike other resorts, where you just expect that everyone around you will be from your side of the Channel, you will really feel like you are in an upscale international bazaar, rubbing elbows with the rest of the world. All of the seaside area of Playa del Ingles is fairly flat with a gentle slope down to the water. Unlike Puerto Rico where the cliffs come right down to the beach, the hillier areas of the Playa del Ingles area are set further back, allowing for more space to enjoy the glorious sunshine.
