Weather

As you might expect from an island located only a short distance from Africa, Fuerteventura enjoys fabulous weather and near perfect temperatures of around 30° Celsius in the peak months of July and August when most families come on holidays to Playa de Jandia. If you’re not one of them though, then rest assured that even if you choose to visit in October you’ll still enjoy temperatures of around 23° Celsius. As it receives year-round north-easterly winds for a cooling breeze, Fuerteventura’s weather is faultless!

Attractions

If you’re a real activity fan, then a cheap holiday in Playa de Jandia will certainly keep you happy. The town has great opportunities for exertion, including beautiful walks to nearby towns such as Caleta de Fuste, big game fishing opportunities, and even water sports like windsurfing. If you’re feeling a little laid back, the attraction of the beach, with its fine sands and waters, will be too much to resist, and so will shopping. The town has many fine stores selling local foods and crafts, and will provide hours of leisurely browsing.

Nightlife

Unlike a lot of Canary Island resorts, which are popular clubbing destinations, Fuerteventura is much more family-orientated and laid back, though you should still be prepared to enjoy a wonderful nightlife. Your hotel in Playa de Jandia will offer a great evening of entertainment, but if you feel like exploring the town on your cheap Playa de Jandia holiday then it’s recommended to visit the bars and restaurants at the seafront, which will provide a quality and relaxed evening for everyone with great food and drink.

Landscape

Playa de Jandia’s many fine beach cafe’s will be the perfect location to enjoy its wonderful landscape. The town’s focal point is indeed its beach, which slopes gently into the sea and offers astounding crystal blue ocean views. Playa de Jandia is itself also very pleasant architecturally, with understated buildings in the Spanish tradition and wonderful tree-lined streets. You may also choose to visit the nearby town of Morro Jable to enjoy the sea from its fabulous Marina.

History

As a purpose-built holiday destination, Playa de Jandia does not possess an individual history, though of course the island of Fuerteventura as a whole will provide a great break for history-lovers in general. It has a history of habitation stretching way back through the centuries, and several historical towns. La Oliva is well worth visiting, a town that was once the capital of the island before the title was handed over to the current capital of Puerto del Rosario, and is home to fantastic historical architecture, as well as some great monuments.

Culture

You can expect your holiday in Playa de Jandia to provide you with a wealth of cultural activities to enjoy, and you might like to begin with the several archealogical sites in the Jandia Peninsula. After this, you’ll find several museums in the area, as well as picturesque natural environments, which are sure to keep you busy all day. If you’d like to visit Betancuria, the Museum of Ethnography is a wonderful place in which to view the arts and crafts of the Fuerteventura locals, while in September the town hosts its Annual Religious Pilgrimage, which fireworks and parades lining the streets.
