As you can expect from Majorca holidays, the summer months are the best for those who love the sun. You should expect temperatures as high as 30° Celsius in July and August, which is perfect beach weather for your Palma holidays! For those wanting it cooler, the later months are ideal. From September onwards, temperatures drop to a low point around 15° in the depth of winter. Even though it can be cloudy in the middle of winter, you'll still get much more sunshine on holiday than back home!
There are a number of attractions offering an insight into Palma's amazing history. The Palma Cathedral, known as La Seu, is a 14th Century gothic cathedral regarded by many as the cultural highlight of the whole island. The beautiful cathedral looks out over the harbour and has a stunning south door with modern windows by Gaudi; this is something you simply can't afford to miss as part of your holidays in Palma. The museum of Majorca has a variety of exhibits dating back to prehistoric times, all housed in a beautiful 17th Century mansion.
The 14th Century castle of Bellver is now a home to a museum and often hosts concerts with everything from rock to opera - make sure you take a look at what is on before you visit. Those who want some fun would be best taking an excursion to nearby Magalluf where you can spend the day on the beach, at the aqua park or simply enjoying a round of golf.
Nightlife in Palma is known as being vibrant but is not full of foam parties and karaoke bars like Palma Nova and Magaluf. There are plenty of clubs, bars and restaurants in the city and also a theatre for those wanting something more relaxing on Palma holidays. If you want to stay out till dawn you would be best heading to Magaluf where the parties start late and last through the night!
Eating out when on holidays in Palma is an attraction in itself with an eclectic mix of restaurants on offer, each with a unique character. There is plenty of local delicacies on offer such as tapas and fresh seafood. Do not forget to sample some of the local wines such as Binissalem, which is very popular in the area.

The city does not have its own beach but for those beach lovers who cannot live without one, head to C'an Pastilla or Cala Mayor for the day. Try the area around Puerto Pollensa in the north of the island where you can find numerous small, secluded coves and escape from the city for a day of utter relaxation!
The origins of the city can be traced back to before Roman times and even today, Roman remains can still be found. The city is still relatively new as the tree lined avenues of La Rambla and the Passeig des Born were built in the 19th Century. Palma was once protected by a large wall that was pulled down to create the Las Avingudas road that encircles the city.
